In Remembrance of Dan Streisel
Dan Streisel was an integral part of our water monitoring efforts in Saskatchewan with the University of Regina. Unfortunately, Dan recently passed away this 2023 season. We wanted to highlight his dedication to community science and his dedication to his community. Members of the Pike Lake Cottage and Watershed Association have shared a few words about Dan.
A message from the members of the Pike Lake Cottage and Watershed Association
Dan Streisel has, for the last two decades, been an outstanding member of our Pike Lake, Saskatchewan, community. He was a true leader in all of our community initiatives; always with great ideas, always with a willingness to help get things done. He could do anything, whether mechanical, social or personal. Gentle, kind, and unassuming, he helped everyone in our Pike Lake Cottage and Watershed Association whenever help was needed. You never had to ask Dan for help; he just showed up. Dan was also an Association board member for many years. He was strongly committed to his family (Janice, his wife, and boys, Eric and Patrick).
It was with his incredible spirit that he was fundamental in starting a Water Rangers Program at Pike Lake (taking samples, organizing meetings, documenting results, registering data and encouraging a small committee). Dan was truly a man of great character and we all miss him dearly.
Rest easy, Dan. Your legacy will live on.
