Ottawa Centre MP makes a splash water testing!

Last week our staff met with Yasir Naqvi, the MP for Ottawa Centre, for a water testing demonstration! Our Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) students, Will, Jonas, and Emma, took Yasir, Lauren, and Maya out to the Brewer Park dock landing to highlight our water quality monitoring work. 

Emma, our community trainer, and Yasir jumped in waders for a fully immersive experience! A highlight from the day was the muskrat that swam past the dock as we were testing. Will, our store assistant, and Jonas, our community data assistant, jumped in to show off some of the testing parameters as well. We went over the importance of regular water monitoring, what our testing parameters are, and the programs which we are currently working on locally. 

A big thanks to Yasir for his time- we know he’s a busy guy! Shout out to Lauren and Maya as well for setting up the event. We love talking to local reps and highlighting projects we are working on. The more we can spread awareness about water testing, the better!
