Celebrating Ocean Week Canada!
Did you know that wherever you live, you are connected to the ocean?
That’s why Water Rangers is proud to be the national freshwater partner for Ocean Week Canada, a coast-to-coast celebration of our shared waters. From lakes and rivers to streams and creeks, all water flows to the ocean.
What is Ocean Week Canada?
We’ve been making waves for Ocean Week since 2022!
We had such a blast last year and sent out over 250 testkits to communities across Canada to engage in community science and celebrated our oceanic connections!
Our Ocean Week 2025 impactEvery year around World Ocean Day on June 8, communities across Canada come together for Ocean Week Canada, a national celebration of the waters that shape our lives. From coast to coast to coast, it’s a week of events, learning, and local action that reminds us just how connected we all are to the ocean, no matter where we live.
Ocean Week Canada is led by the Centre for Ocean Literacy Collaboration (COLC), and brings together organizations, educators, and communities to spark curiosity, inspire action, and deepen our understanding of ocean health across the country.
This year, let’s make a splash from coast to coast to coast!
This year, we’re going all in and we’d love for you to be part of it! Ocean Week Canada runs from June 1 to 8, 2025, and we’ll be adding events right up until the big week. Check back often so you don’t miss anything!

Host your own event!
Here’s something that still amazes us: 83% of Water Rangers volunteers go on to teach others how to test water quality in their own communities. Your impact doesn’t stop at the water’s edge. It ripples outward!
This Ocean Week, why not bring a few new people along? Organize a mini event and invite friends, neighbours, or colleagues to test the water with you. Even if you missed the mini-grant deadline, you can still get testing.
No matter how small your gathering, we’d love for you to register your event on the Ocean Week Canada website. And if you’d like a hand posting it, just send us the details, and we’ll take care of it for you.
