Lake Erie Rangers is a community science initiative led by Water Rangers to boost community involvement in water quality monitoring across the Lake Erie basin, especially in the Niagara region and western Lake Erie. With support from a $330,000 grant from the Canada Water Agency’s Freshwater Ecosystems Initiative and Ontario’s Great Lakes Local Action Fund, the project (2024–2027) empowers people to track contaminants like E.coli, nutrients, and road salts.

By sharing data through open platforms like Water Rangers and DataStream, volunteers help fill critical gaps and inform freshwater decision-making.
