Lake stewardship program for Quebec

Water Rangers is launching a lake stewardship program in the province of Quebec. If you’re part of a dedicated group of people working together to help protect a lake or river, this program may be for you!

Read the eligibility criteria and tell us more about the group you belong to by filling out the form below. Applications are open until May 6, 2022. We’ll select up to 20 qualifying groups to receive a subsidized Freshwater Explorer testkit. This testkit allows you measure conductivity, dissolved oxygen, clarity, pH, alkalinity and hardness in the water. Your group will be asked to contribute a $25 fee to help cover shipping and handling fees.

Eligibility:

  • The lake(s) or river(s) you are monitoring is located in Val-des-Monts, Laurentian region, Greater Montreal, or Abitibi-Témiscamingue
  • You can test the water quality monthly while ice is off (approximately from May to October)
  • You will share your data on our open data platform, with the option of sharing to DataStream after you have a year of data on the platform (exceptions can be made for Indigenous groups with privacy concerns)
  • You agree to pay a $25 flat fee to help cover the shipping and handling of the testkit
  • You attend a training session with a member of the Water Rangers team or complete our online certification course
