Sharing your data

Good data management practices are a crucial part of community-based water monitoring.

The power of your observations

Your observations help fill information gaps on water bodies. Your observations help inform decisions and solutions needed to restore and protect our waters. Water data help us see trends and understand water health over time.

Your observations can’t do all these incredible things if they aren’t properly managed and shared. When your observations are shared on Water Rangers’ data platform, this facilitates the reuse of and access to your data for communities, decision makers, and research bodies.

How to manage your data

If you want to share your water quality data, start by creating a free Water Rangers account. You can log observations, track your sites, and see your impact over time.

  1. Create an account — sign up and set up your profile.
  2. Join or create a new organization.
  3. Add your dataset — establish your testing sites, parameters, and equipment.
  4. Record observations — log results, upload photos, and add notes for context.
  5. See your data on the map — it’s visible within minutes for anyone to view.

Manage and share your test results using our free data management tools.
